The duties of infectious diseases and clinical microbiology
Clinical microbiologists study microorganisms that cause infections and diseases. They observe and analyze microbial cultures and samples using special computer software and a range of identification methods and clinical trials. Their duties include:

testing the strength and virulence of microbes
using a variety of biochemical and molecular methods to identify organisms that cause infection
collaborating and communicating with healthcare professionals and industrial or clinical colleagues
saving, analyzing, and interpreting data

conducting studies aimed at helping prevent the spread of infections in hospitals
researching specific diseases
managing laboratories
