Respiratory Diseases

When inhaling, the lungs take oxygen from the air and release it into the bloodstream. The cells in the human body need oxygen to function and grow.
The average person breathes about 25,000 times a day. The term respiratory disease (chest disease) refers to many conditions that affect the lungs, such as asthma, COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), influenza, infections such as pneumonia and tuberculosis, lung cancer, and many other respiratory problems. Some lung diseases can cause respiratory failure.
Reyap Hospital Istanbul serves with its expert health care providers and modern technological equipment in health problems related to the respiratory system.

Diagnosing pulmonary diseases
Examination, treatment, and follow-up of pulmonary diseases are performed in our hospital. Pulmonologists focus on the respiratory system and the diseases that affect it. The respiratory system includes:
Mouth and nose
Sinuses
Throat (pharynx)
Larynx
Windpipe (trachea)
Bronchi
Lungs and the bronchioles and alveoli in it
Diaphragm
If there is a symptom affecting one or more of these organs, you should make an appointment with the pulmonary diseases department.

In allergic diseases, the causative allergen is detected with the skin Prick test and a treatment plan is prepared. By medical history and allergy tests, the doctor can understand the particular substance that causes symptoms when you touch, breathe, or eat.
With the respiratory function test and reversibility test, lung capacity can be measured, hence patients with COPD, and asthma can be treated.
In the bronchoscopy unit, endoscopic examination of the respiratory tract is performed with flexible bronchoscopy, and the diagnosis of diseases such as tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, lung cancer, lymphoma is done with biopsy samples.
Smoking is one of the leading preventable causes that threaten public health. It causes lung cancer with its direct effects on the lung (COPD, chronic bronchitis, emphysema). Treatment recommendations and follow-ups for cigarette addiction in the direction of preventive medicine are made in our polyclinic.
Non-invasive mechanical ventilation is applied to patients with severe COPD and respiratory failure hospitalized in our intensive care and service.
