History
Or-Ahayim, meaning, “Light of Life”, was founded Private Balat Hospital (1898) as a home clinic by a group of idealist physicians & philanthropists, with the mandate of Sultan Abdulhamid II.
Today our hospital is defined as a “Boutique Hospital”.
Balat Hospital witnessed World War II, the Balkan War, the invasion of Istanbul and various migrations.
In 1914 , during World War I, the first 30 thirty beds of the hospital, followed by the 40 forty bed quarantine pavilion were reserved under the Red Crescent for the treatment of wounded soldiers.
Hospital staff was awarded with the Medal of Honor by the Red Crescent for their extraordinary efforts.
The hospital also hosted migrants from Russia in 1921 and from Poland in 1934

The Geriatrics Clinic is one of the few in Turkey. Elderly care services are also given to those who are treated in the clinic.
The sixty person volunteer army named as pink angels work to have our patients stay committed to life , to instill joy of life in them and let them experience the peace , warmth and tenderness of home
Therapy and rehabilitation time , which is managed by the pink angels on a daily basis betwwen the hours of eleven and twelv are the hours our elderly are the happiest throughout the day .During these hours our elderly comment together on the news appering in daily newspapers , Exchange opinions related to current events perform and listen to music , sings and develop various handcraft skills.
Our elderly are under the intense assurance of a general hospital , the love and respect felt for them
